NZ's "Lightning Jack", End Of Trail (USA) 2007.

PACKING IRON
August 2006
Cowboy Action Shooting, it's a lifestyle.

"End of Trail" World Championships
The 26th Annual End of Trail 2007 was attended by 571 competitors, six of them New Zealanders.

Lightning Jack, one of the best junior shooters we have, was the most successful of the six competitors placing 2nd in his category and 50th Overall. A
full report on the match can be found in this issue.

Planning An Event
It could be an annual match, a local regional or an island match but if it clashes with another event the number of expected entrants could be affected.

The Coming Events page on the Pistol NZ website and the Bullshooter should be the first place you check once you are ready to set a
date. Another thing to remember is try not to hold a match too close to another event. Not many people have the time, or can afford to attend, when things
are back to back.

If you submit dates go back to the Events page in a couple of weeks to see if your event has been posted. Because you're busy organising and planning it's
easy to over look this simple task but doing it can save a lot of anguish.

Section Badges
If you want one of the pin on Section badges with your CAS number engraved on it here’s how to go about it.

Send a cheque to Pistol NZ (address on inside cover of Bullshooter) for $15 made payable to NZ Pistol Assn. Write on the back "CAS SECTION BADGE", your name,
address, alias and CAS number. The badge will be engraved and dispatched to you. It shouldn't take longer than three weeks as I will be getting them engraved
in batches.

Where's Your Belly Button?
The wearing of shotgun belts is one of those areas that we can become complacent about. We should all have an idea of where our belly buttons are because
this is the point identified in the rules that the belt may not be above, to quote "...worn so all ammo is positioned at or below belly button". A lot
of shooters like using the slide on shotgun loops and there is nothing wrong with these. Care needs to be taken with which ever form of shell holder you use
that the shells in the loops conform to the shooters contour and do not tilt out from the belt.

Thinking Of Joining SASS?
Have you seen the exchange rate at the moment? It hasn't been this good for years, so if you have been thinking about it now's the time to sign up. And
don't forget, with the New Zealand SASS Regional up & running you can compete in a SASS event right here. You can subscribe as an annual member or pay
for a life membership. You get a SASS Badge with your membership number engraved on it, a certificate confirming your alias, a SASS Marshall lapel pin,
SASS decal and the Cowboy Chronicle by email every single month and it's full of cowboy articles and merchants.
www.sassnet.com Your Pistol NZ alias may already be in use but you can perform an alias search to check if
it is available.

Last Section Report
After 3 years as Section Director this is the last Bullshooter article for me. I will not be attending any shooting events for the rest of the year.
Focusing on other interests and hobbies will be my aim for the immediate future.

Cowboy Action Director
